Virat Kohli is the king of IPL captains and is the best IPL captain in RCB’s captain list so far. He’s been the skipper of the team since 2011 and has more than 50 wins under his belt.
In IPL 2021, Virat played 15 matches with a whooping run score of 405 and a strike rate of 119.46. Though, RCB has not won their maiden IPL title yet that doesn’t mean Kohli has failed as a captain. He’s known for his high hittings and for making several individual records for the team.
The IPL 2020 winners team Delhi Capitals, announced Rishabh Pant as their new captain during the first phase of IPL 2021. This decision was made after their old skipper Shreyas Iyer got injured.
Rishabh who was before vice-captain of the team played 16 matches in IPL 2021 as the skipper and scored a total of 419 runs including 3 fifties. His highest score was 58 off 48 balls against RCB. And he gained trust from the management and the team with his brilliant performance. Even, before the start of the IPL 2021 second phase, DC was ruling the IPL points table.
The next in the IPL 2021 captain list is Eoin Morgan. He’s the only English player to be the captain in the IPL league currently. Morgan took over the captaincy for the KKR in midways IPL 2020. And played 17 matches with a net score rate of 133. His unbeaten 47* was his closest to the 50 and his highest score for the season.
Eoin played his IPL debut in 2010 for RCB and then joined KKR in 2011. Following KKR’s failure to get into the playoffs during IPL 2020, they changed their captain appointing Morgan as the new one. And they finally made it to the playoffs, finishing 4th in the points table.
Ahead of IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals released Steve Smith and appointed Sanju Samson as their new captain. Sanju has been playing for the team since 2013 and has performed great so far. His highest score was 119 runs off 63 balls. Also, he scored 2 fifties for the season when he played 14 matches and scored 484 total runs.
After Sanju Samson, KL Rahul is another wicketkeeper to captain an IPL team. He’s also the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in ODIs and T20Is and joined Punjab Kings back in 2018. Rahul became captain of the team in 2020 and played 13 total matches last season with a net score of 626 runs and a massive 6 fifties.
After the initial poor performance of the team, the SRH franchise changed their skipper and appointed Kane Williamson as their new captain. Kane has been with SRH since 2015 and played 10 matches during IPL 2021 season. His highest score was an unbeaten 66* off 51 balls. Though the team failed to make it to the playoffs last season that doesn’t justify Williamson’s performance as a captain.
