In 1998, LCI, a low-cost distance service, and CMT, a web provider were acquired b them. This brought a revolutionary change in the business as they supplied people with high-speed data. Dutch telecom company KPN joined hands with Qwest to from a company under name of KPNQwest in 1998. KPNQwest got bankrupted in 2002. Qwest Communications partnered with other major communications companies such as AT&T and Verizon.
